I have always been aware that traveling and strolling are not the same thing, because in both cases the journey is not enjoyed in the same way, nor is there the same awareness of the environment with all its components. A trip can also be used to take a stroll somewhere, but subordinated to that other thing for which the tour was intended. In any case, to place a walk in the current dynamics of life is almost a luxury or an exclusivity, and it is associated to some kind of tourism in its different modalities. So, having explained the matter, I will tell you about a trip and a little bit of a walk.

The last time I had traveled to the capital of all Cubans, including those from Pinar del Río, was about six months ago to go to the market, but not to buy Malanga, avocado, beans, etc., but to the art market, which we should not get the idea that it fills the breadth of the word, let's rather say "art marketing". And that round trip from my locality to the city is quite violent if it is done the same day.

Just two days ago I returned to the "Wonder Capital" but this time on a direct trip from my town (San Luis, Pinar del Rio) in a light car and at least the one-way trip was totally free to the same Floridita at the head of Obispo Street, really the destination of my travel project, where I arrived at five twenty in the afternoon after three long hours of shooting, of course from the car, and only broken the routine with three thick downpours in different sections of the national highway.

I had a lucky trip, because at the very moment I stopped in front of the place of negotiation, almost fifty meters down the street, the owners closed the venduta and there I had to assume a good response for the late arrival, but for being from Pinar del Río, everything ended in good service. In this type of venduta I only place minor works or what we artists usually call "downloads", to ensure the economy of the newspaper.

First the adjustment of the merchandise that has already headed for different latitudes of the planet and then the entry of the merchandise that is going to start the road of luck and chance. Once the main objective of the trip is solved and since I have to spend the night in the capital, which was already assured beforehand, I go out to the street. I breathe soft and deep and with the nostalgia of seeing a street" Obispo "thin, long and malnourished by the great shortage of tourism, I realize that now is a sunset walk and walk slowly and I rediscover everything before so many times seen and almost imperceptible transformations in the environment.

Thus I meet again one of the hardest professions for me in these streets, the living sculptures: living beings transformed thanks to the magic of art in the most dissimilar materials and that manage with their patinas and incredible immobility to confuse our retina. I was surprised to take a picture that I did not see with quality, to hear the voice of the figure advising me how to take a selfie.

They are so still while the world is shaking around them. I return to places very common in my almost weekly trips to these parts. Down there, at the end of the street, the romantic part, the old and immutable buildings that perpetuate the image of colonial power, the Palacio de los Capitanes Generales, the Palacio del Segundo Cabo and the old post office with the emblematic sculpture of the Giraldilla: symbol of the capital and the Penelope of America.

Further down, the Castillo de la Real Fuerza, and ending at the back of the park, with the libertarian sculpture of El Padre de la Patria, El Templete: site that perpetuates the place where the first founding mass of Cuba was celebrated, with its reedited ceiba tree and the three immense works of the painter and disciple of Goya, Juan Bautista Bermay decorating its interior. For me perhaps the most important monument in Havana. And already in front of my eyes, in a sunset preceded by rain, the bay duplicating in its calm waters the entire opposite coastline, from the Castle of the three kings of the Morro to far away the Regla dock.

The night slowly falls, a few tourists begin the nocturnality. In the Bodeguita del medio guitars and maracas sound, and voices tuned to the level of Rum flood the sidewalk and I, like a frightened guajiro, pick myself up early, warned by the legends and the perception that Havana is no longer the same for night strolls.
