Wez grew more and more excited by the clues he was finding, so he immediately began chasing that yellow light that had appeared in the forest, where the sound had now changed—it was no longer a violin, but the sound of guitar strings. He moved forward and once again found a small wooden house covered in branches and vines, where the door was open. Just as Wez stood in front of the door, the key lit up—but this time it was the second symbol, which surprised him.

He entered very carefully; everything was dark, but at the back there was a room that also had its door open, and with every step Wez took, the sound of the strings grew louder. Upon entering, he saw a guitar resting on a chair; there was nothing else there, but its strings were moving with precision. He also noticed a letter next to the guitar, which Wez picked up and discovered contained the same melody he’d heard at the cemetery. However, some notes were missing, and he wondered, “Why?”

Everything changed as the lights went out and shadows appeared—one behind him, another by the window, and another in front of the guitar—where they stood motionless, watching Wez, and the guitar began to play, but in a slower version. This young man closed his eyes, and a memory came to him—it was that very same room many years ago, and there was a young man sitting in front of the guitar, playing the same sequence of chords over and over again, but stopping before the end; moreover, it was a melody for someone I don’t know yet.

A second memory came to him, but now there was a little girl sitting on the floor of the room, and the guitarist was playing the opening chords while she listened intently. He also said to her, “A song shouldn’t belong to the one who creates it; it should belong to the one who needs it.” — Wez opened his eyes again, and the room changed. The guitar was still in front of him, but now there was a photograph on the chair—a photo showing the guitarist and that little girl, along with a date.

Wez already knew about the girl, and the guitar stopped playing; besides, the shadow approached and said, “He wasn’t the one who wrote the song.” We didn’t understand, and the shadow pointed to a letter that had also appeared there, which read: “If I ever forget who I wrote this song for, tell them it was never meant to be heard. It was meant to remind me of what happened that night.” As soon as he finished reading, a door opened leading to another room, where there was a chair in the center and, on it, a broken violin. Wez realized the shadow’s purpose: they weren’t protecting the song; they were protecting the memory that had been erased from it. Immediately, the third mark on the key began to glow, and someone whispered, “Now you know who wrote the first note.” But Wez needed to know who wrote the rest, and just then, a sound came from another part of the forest.
