Google employee fired over email challenging gender equality in tech

It appears that a Google employee has been fired for sending an internal memo about his views on sexual equality.

A day or two ago, when I first heard about the employee memo 'complaining' about sexual equality, I read it and thought, "Why hasn't he been fired yet?"

It wasn't that I disagreed with what he had said, in fact I totally agreed with it. Women ARE different from men, pay gaps are not necessarily due to gender discrimination (even EU sponsored research shows this), people are afraid to discuss this, etc.

No. The reason I thought he would be fired is because he sent a long memo about a controversial subject to, presumably, all his co workers. He must have known this would cause trouble.

My only question about this is,

Do employees receive internal memos claiming the opposite? I.e. do employees have to endure reading memos they may not agree with from the other point of view. For example, are employees being sent memos saying that women are the same as men, that they are discriminated against and that everyone is in agreement with this.

Anyway, if a company has a certain image or reputation to maintain, including in what it exposes its employees to, it has every right to fire an employee who damages it.
