Just did a test on how much 100% upvote worth with 70.04% VP and 653.42 staked token

So I'm getting 0.56 SCT.

It makes me to find out how the SCT vote value is calculated.

Use the chrome, and F12 to developer mode, I found out total rshares is 457889

You might know the formula to calculate the post payout(or upvote value) is:

The price in the above formula is referring to the steem feed price(3.5 days steem medium price). Since SCT doesn't use the feed price, so we can ignore this part.

SCT upvote is pretty easy to calculate with this formula:

SCT upvote = Rshares * (Reward Balances/Recent Claims)

  • Rshares is depending on voting weight and VP.
  • Reward Balances is current total rewards in the pool.
  • Recent Claims is current total pending payout.

In my test, I upvoted my comment with 100% weight, 70.0759%VP, and 653.42 staked token.
So my rshares gave to the comment is 653420x0.700759=457889

Not sure how to get reward balances and recent claims, so assume them are X factor.

The formula now looks like:

(Reward Balances/Recent Claims) = SCT upvote / Rshares

X = SCT upvote / Rshares

X = 0.56/457889

X = 0.000001223

Current ratio of Reward Balances and Recent Claims is 0.000001223.

Now, you can use this ratio to calculate your upvote.

For instance, if you have 1000 Staked SCT, your 100%VP and 100% weight upvote will give you about 1.223 SCT.

There also another factor, which is 1.3 author curve exponent. I will talk about that in the next post.
