I recently came across a post written by deraa@deraa, which she titled 'My Hive Story'. I was curious to know what was happening because hers wasn't the first I've seen. And so, I had to ask her what was happening, and she explained to me and even gave me a link to the original post published by snook@snook.

Going through snook@snook's post which she titled Scamming Newbies on Hive/Advice for new Hivers, I could deduce that there are some persons out there trying so hard to scam the newbies. Funny enough newbies might end up falling for the tricks of these fraudsters being that they know little or nothing about Hive. Like snook@snook rightly said,

People don't always think straight in desperate times and might fall victims to scams like this.

Please never send money to anyone who promise to teach you how to blog or how to make money faster on hive because you will end up regretting it. Anyone that wants to teach you that can do that without asking you for money.

We all started somewhere, newbies should know that becoming great on hive is a gradual process. Everybody will surely get there, but that's only if you are determined.

With this in mind, snook@snook came up with 10 questions that she feels would help newbies see how she started. If she started very little and could get to where she is today, why can't you? I will be answering these questions also, and I hope you do same.

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN ON THE BLOCKCHAIN?

I would say in general, I have been on the blockchain since 2018, that's when I had my first account on steemit. I moved from steemit to uptrennd and then had to come back to Hive which is an upgraded version of steemit(permit me to say that). I registered on Hive 7 months ago with the help of a friend kei2@kei2, but became active just 4 months ago.

WHAT WAS YOUR BACKGROUND IN CRYPTOCURRENCY WHEN YOU FIRST CAME TO THE BLOCKCHAIN?

Before 2018,I had no knowledge or background of cryptocurrency, although I have been hearing my friends talk about crypto. Even when I joined steemit, I didn't join because I knew about crypto, I joined just for the fun of it, I guess that's why I didn't take it serious at first. To be honest, I started knowing things relating to crypto when I joined uptrennd. I guess I have uptrennd to thank for that. I can now proudly say I know things about cryptocurrency which I thought I would never know.

WHAT WAS YOUR BACKGROUND IN WRITING WHEN YOU FIRST CAME TO THE BLOCKCHAIN?

I was not much of a writer when I first came to the blockchain. I was just a small-time poet that writes just for the fun of it. I only knew I could write letters and essays so well back then in school. My teachers always uses me as an example to other students, and those times, I do feel like a superstar 😂, not knowing I had a lot to learn about writing. I guess that talent was what I harnessed to become better at writing. I'm still learning though, and I'm hoping to improve on my writing skills someday.

HOW MANY PEOPLE DID YOU KNOW WHEN YOU FIRST CAME TO THE BLOCKCHAIN?

When I first came to the blockchain (steemit), I knew just my sister zizymena@zizymena, and she was the one who introduced me to steemit. My coming to Hive was as a result of uptrennd crashing(if I should use that word). So many of my friends on uptrennd also registered on hive before me though, and this is because I was so lazy and reluctant to join hive after the uptrennd heartbreak. I really don't want to start mentioning and tagging anyone here but I think the answer to this question would be that I know quite a number of persons when I first came to Hive blockchain.

HOW DID YOU MEET PEOPLE WHEN YOU FIRST CAME TO THE BLOCKCHAIN?

Like I said earlier, I already knew some persons before joining the blockchain, but I got to meet some other persons through engagement and through the Newbies Initiative program which is sponsored by starstrings@starstrings, projectmamabg@projectmamabg, eddiespino@eddiespino and other team members.

WHO DID YOU FIRST LOOK UP TO WHEN YOU FIRST CAME TO THE BLOCKCHAIN?

We all have our mentor and dreemsteem@dreemsteem is someone I always look up to. Back in uptrennd, she was the chancellor of Uptrennd University. She made sure we all were inculcated with the knowledge of everything we need to know about blogging. She has challenged me a lot to be a better person and I will always be grateful to her. She has a unique way of doing her things and I have learnt a lot from her.

Another person I look up to is merit.ahama@merit.ahama. She has been a piller of support to me that even when I try giving up, she lifts me up. I became a blogger before her and I was even the person who introduced her to blogging. Unfortunately for me, she is way higher and better than me when it comes to blogging. That's the spirit she has... A dogged spirit... She is a source of motivation for me and I just hope I will be able to be like her someday.

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR FIRST THREE MONTHS ON THE BLOCKCHAIN?

It wasn't friendly at all.. 😂.. I will be talking about my first three months on hive blockchain specifically. Like I said earlier, I was still trying to heal from the heartbreak of the loss of all my hard work on uptrennd. And so, I really didn't concentrate much, and this made me struggle to find my bearing. It wasn't easy, but I thank God that I didn't give up. That's all that matters. More reason I joined the newbie initiative program.

HAS BEING A PART OF THE BLOCKCHAIN CHANGED YOU IN ANY WAY FOR THE GOOD?

Totally. Being a part of the blockchain has taught me a lot and has changed a lot about me. I have started seeing things differently now, I have become more of a reader, I have learnt how to be patient, I have learnt how to plan my time properly, I have learnt a lot about cryptocurrency, I have learnt how to be a better blogger. What more can I ask for?

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE MEMORY FROM YOUR TIME IN THE BLOCKCHAIN?

I actually have a bad memory here, but am glad the question was just about my favourite memory. I think I have just a few of them, but I will quickly say that my favourite memory here was when I withdrew my hive to get something good for myself. It was nice eating the fruit of my labour.. 😂.. That was my first earning from hive and I won't forget that day in a hurry. I have also won some few contests which brings smiles to my face whenever I remember them.

IF YOU COULD ADVISE A NEW PERSON SIGNING UP TO HIVE, WHAT WOULD IT BE?

Just be yourself... Know why you are on hive and know what you are doing. You can't be lazing around and expect to earn. Seek to improve yourself in all areas and be persistent and consistent. Remember Originality matters a lot and so you must be original. Publish only original contents and learn to engage more often.

Here you have it... I'm done answering the questions. I just hope I gave the right answers to these questions. If you are having a follow-up question, kindly hit me up on the comment section. I hope this would help the newbies.
