There's a first time for everything..

I’ve read some of your stories allready and I would love to share some more information with you guys. My name is Dave, I’m a 25 years old student in Amsterdam and I’m proud to be a Dutchman.

For the past 11 years I’ve worked in tourism as a holiday job. I guide people around from all around the globe and show them the village I kinda grew up in. Giethoorn is one of the most authentic villages of the Netherlands. The village where houses are built on little Islands, with bridges which connect them to the main land. Check the pictures below. I will write a complete blog about the village later on!

But guys… what is the first thing that comes up to your mind when someone tells you he’s from the Netherlands or when they are planning to travel towards my country? Let me guess: coffeeshops, red light district, wooden shoes, tulips and windmills. I forgot one: Amsterdam. Amsterdam is the Netherlands and the Netherlands is Amsterdam. Isn’t it? To be honest: we have it all. Including Amsterdam and a lot of hookers! You’re welcome to try a bit. Not too much though. That will ruin your trip!

But guys, believe me. My country is more than just a place where you can smoke unlimited amounts of weed after you’ve had intercourse with a hooker for a small price. And definitely more than tulips, windmills and wooden shoes.

During my first months in the Steemit community I’ll give you some funny and unbelievable facts about the Netherlands. I will try to make you as enthusiastic about this country as I am. Besides some background information and funny facts, I will also give you some tips with the most underrated places to visit. We have a lot of those places with great architecture. I've spend a night in an hotel in Den Bosch for example. During my morning walk towards the train, I spotted this beautifull building and took a quick picture. IMG_1165 (1).JPG
