Hanging out with a Brilliant Mind - Gino Yu

Dubai Futuretech Decentralized brought @steemcafe and I to Dubai to meet the people there that are into blockchain tech.\n\nOne of the panel speakers at the conference was none other than Dr. Gino Yu, a professor at Hong Kong Polytechnic University. His list of accomplishments goes longer than my arm since he is one of the most brilliant people I have ever met.\n\n\n\nThis is from his bio:\n\n> \n> \n> Dr. Gino Yu’s research spans Design Automation, Computer Animation, Video Games, Creativity, and Consciousness with over 60 publications. Currently, his main research interests involve the application of media technologies to cultivate creativity and promote enlightened consciousness (meaningful media).\n> He is an Associate Professor and Director of Digital Entertainment and Game Development at the School of Design at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU).\n> He is co-founder of the PolyU M-Lab, a commercially oriented digital entertainment laboratory that provides services to industry. He has also developed programs at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, where he created the Multimedia Innovation Centre (www.mic.polyu.edu.hk), and the University of Southern California, where he was instrumental in establishing multimedia initiatives in the Engineering School including the Integrated Media Systems Center.\n> Dr. Gino Yu is also Chairman and co-founder of the Hong Kong Digital Entertainment Association. He received his BS and PhD in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the University of California at Berkeley in 1987 and 1993 respectively. He is a composer and father of three.\n\nOne of the things that amazes me about him is his involvement with Sophia the Robot where he worked on her brain. The man is a genius. His study in the human conciousness is fascinating. Think of this, he is the guy who meets people who have telekinetic abilities.\n\nHe blocked an entire afternoon to talk with @steemcafe and I and others who were at the conference and the conversation flowed easily. We talked about his field of study and what his end goals are. Studying consciousness also makes him very good at reading people and he was giving something of a psych evaluation of our friend.\n\nAnyway, I'm just saying that these are the type of brilliant people that we get to hang out with all because of blockchain. My mind is kind of being blown.
