Last Summer I took a trip out to Waterton Lakes National Park, located in southern Alberta, on the Canada/US border actually. Spent a few days hiking as usual. The weather was fantastic. Just outside the

It's January 16th, another random Friday is here. I just took down the Christmas tree! Usually I put up the tree first week of December and take down about mid January or so. How about you? I know some

Bottoms up, not in the sense of drinking, but it looks like we have an abandoned surf board (and a couple of washed up squid). Could it be that it got damaged, and someone didn't bother to dispose of it

After a brief visit to Tonquin beach, it was off to the next beach! Not exactly sure where we were going, we soon stumbled upon Cox beach. (Looking back on a map, there were at least 10 different beaches

Come over here, take your shoes off and let’s wade into the water. The average ocean temperature for mid July, Vancouver Island is around 14°C or 57 Fahrenheit. A comfortable temperature for us Canadians.

Here we are at Oceanside Tofino, Vancouver Island, British Columbia. Let’s go for a walk along the beach. Wow, it’s so beautiful! Watching the waves come and go, which make these rhythmic patterns in the

Tonquin beach is one of many top notch beaches on Vancouver Island’s west coast. This was the first of many we had the opportunity to visit. We headed to the shoreline to frolick around (and to take pictures

This is paradise! At least to me it felt like paradise. Tonquin beach here was only twenty minutes walking distance from “downtown” Tofino. What a great day it was to be out and about on Canada’s most

Here we are on the second Friday of the year, time doesn’t stand still! January is typically the coldest month of the year for us Canadians, and so far it’s been cold (surprise surprise). Someday I’m gonna

Tofino or not to fino, that is the question. Part of our Summer vacation found us on Vancouver Island; now even though it is an island, it is not small by any stretch. Tofino is on the west side of the

Whilst out and about around Victoria’s harbour area I took a few random photos of this and that. The parliament building sits in front of the harbour area; here you have horse carriage rides available

Shortly after leaving the parliament grounds, and just across the street is the local harbour. Watching over the harbour is the Fairmont Empress hotel (which looks to be under construction). That would

Perhaps it was more interesting to be outside the parliament vs inside the parliament! Walking around the grounds, here are a couple things I found. A fountain I captured in 1/2000th of second, stop motions

Last Summer we had the pleasure of visiting one of Canada’s top destinations, which is Vancouver Island. Each day of our vacation took us to a different part of the island. Initially I didn’t really want

After all the New Year’s stuff, back to “normal” here @daveks. Let’s continue with our walk through the Italian garden here at Butchart. Only thing missing around here was the Italian vineyard. Speaking

First Friday of the year! Are you still on break or back to work? Did you get away to any tropical destination or maybe you are still there? Myself, well we are hanging out in the cold Canadian tundra,

Welcome to 2026! Can you believe it? We are at the start of a new year. Most people tend to make New Year’s resolutions, but only about 10-20% are actually able to keep them for the entire year. That’s

Finally we are at the last day of the year. It is New Year’s Eve. What if any are your Big plans for tonight? Looking back on the year that was, our Hive has not performed as excepted unfortunately.

Come, lets enter the Italian garden. One of five distinct themed gardens inside Butchart. Originally this section was a tennis court, believe it or not! But in the 1920’s it was transformed into this beautiful

Come, lets go over the bridge and into the Japanese garden. A couple more photos to show you along our journey through the garden. If you notice, the colour red appears often in Japanese culture. From
