I must first appreciate Pastor Eli for such an incredible teaching on drug addiction and superfluity.
I have observed different people with their integrities and personal reserves but have also found that there are certain habits that are below what could be observed as personal integrity based on the malignant effect those habits induce.
I tried making research on why people go into drug addiction and I found three major variables amidst others why people get into drug addiction and these include: environment factors, genetic factors, and development factors.
People are most likely influenced by those surrounding them, like peer groups, friends, families etc. When people get choked with peers or friends and families who are drug addicts, there is the possibility of them trying to taste it one day, and since no house was built in a day, they may less likely give up on the process.
According to the National Institute of Drug Abuse (NIDA) genes account for about 50% of the reasons why some persons get into drug addiction and this could be from either sides of the parents or lineage.
We shouldn't see all drug addictions from one perspective as a person's gene stands as a major contributing variable to drug addiction.
In the course of my research, I discovered that over 70% of people who got into illicit drugs during their teenage are less likely to stop the use of those drugs in the next 7 years.
These are the major variables that caught my attention into why people go into drug addiction and I believe we can also make further research to come into consensus with my findings.
Pastors Eli had no scriptural reference in this regard, although he understands there are scriptural backups but he sagaciously expounded the teaching using the normal scenes that has been in the world today, so as to bring the idea home to a more lucid view because many people may be observing to see the scripture mention their specific addiction which actually was not captured in the Bible.

Pastor talked about Buddha who died in the course of mushroom poisoning. In this regard, we are responsible for the things we eat so we must not be carefree and the Bible says in 1 Timothy 4:4-5
For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving:
For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.(KJV)
God is a faithful one and he has exalted his word above his name. When we eat without praying over our food, then we are responsible for anything that may reverberate on account of eating those food but when we put God first, our food are purified and it can be funny to say that Buddha died because he didn't recognize God who provided the mushrooms he was eating.
I overheard Pastor Eli saying it's not about just praying as you must also be determined to put an end to taking illicit drugs or abusing drugs because prayer or faith without works is dead according to James 2:17
My late Daddy was a smoker although he stopped smoking before his demise in 2020 but I could remember vividly that while I was around the age of 12, I decided to taste smoking siga but I thank God that quit at my first trial as the smoke penetrated into my head as I coughed intermittently through that day, and the decided I wouldn't go into smoking in my Life.
Genetic factor has a great role to play in compelling people to go into drug addiction but we must take strong stand against it else getting addicted to drugs would be like every other normal thing we are engaged.
Drug addiction does not have an age limit where one may reach and decide never to continue again but we must put the body into subjection before drug addiction can be a thing of the past.
I have learnt that even sicknesses caused by drug addiction does not have the audacity to stop someone from keeping in touch with those illicit drugs despite the degree of his sicknesses.
Pastor Eli narrated how he would wake in the morning although this was while he was still in the world, he would light his siga and without further lighting, his siga would be on till he's done for the day. He also said it was on account of receiving Jesus Christ that he determined to leave such life.
The fact is that even men of God without genuine repentance do go into drug abuse and we can see that the case is not about answering a believer but we must put our body into compulsion as to live a life free of drug abuse if anyone is into it.
One must distance himself from worldly friends, I don't means we shouldn't make friend with those in the world but rather, we shouldn't be friends with those who have taken evil habit as a lifestyle.
There is nothing impossible for God. If one is really set to quit drug addiction, and sincerely prays to God, he will surely deliver him from illicit taking of drugs.
We shouldn't allow the deceit of science and findings to gain control over us. That my Dad or Mum was a smoker does not suggest that I should take similar routine but we have to be careful about our lives else we will be ending it untimely.
If one is a drug abuser, he really needs consistent hearing and listening of the word of God because there is no how one will give himself to the word of God and the life of Christ wouldn't be formed in him. And in this regard, you can make the MCGI community your preferred virtual connection for the word because I trust you will hear something that will change your life, as faith comes through hearing and hearing by the word of God.
