As we enter the last week in August, the countdown to Datum’s new app release has officially begun. Long time supporters will recall that the original Datum app goes all the way back to the Datum pre-sale last year. When the app was first created, it was designed as a proof of concept both from a technical and business model perspective. Having attracted over 60,000 users, we feel we have accomplished both objectives with the legacy version of the app.
On the backend, the app has been rebuilt in React Native which offers notable performance improvements and allows the product team greater flexibility in rolling out future releases. The app now interacts directly with the Datum network in storage operations such as saving and accessing user data.
The app will roll out to Android users first, with iOS to follow pending Apple’s approval. The app has already been submitted to the Apple App Store and the team is working with Apple to achieve compliance with the App Store crypto guidelines. We will also make the app available in different languages in a near future.
In summary, the new version of the app is faster, completely redesigned for scale and extensibility and proudly operating 100% on the Datum Decentralized Storage Network.
