Speaking of the best defenders in the world, we can not fail to mention the legendary Jaap Stam, a legend in Manchester United, the defender of Dutch football.
Jaap Stam was born on 17 July 1972 in Kampen, Netherlands. He nicknamed De rots van Kampen.Stam can be ideal for a defender when he is tall 6 ft 3 in.
He started his career in 1992 at a local amateur club DOS Kampen before moving to FC Zwolle in 1995. Shortly afterwards, stam acceded PSV Eindhoven, he had been with the club for a year. In the start of the 1996-97 season, Stam won the second title with PSV Eindhoven when the same club won the Dutch Super Cup (Johan Cruijff Cup). They also won the Dutch championship that year. Stam was a key player in the club. In 1997 he again won the Dutch Super Cup.
Summer 1998, Stam became the most expensive central defender when he was bought by Manchester United for 17 million euros. He joined Manchester United to create a 1998-1998 season with treble 3, then 3 morer 3 Premierships, an FA Cup, an Intercontinental Cup and a Champions League with the club.
In 2001 Stam fought with Alex Ferguson . Then he moved to Lazio with a record contract of 26 million euros and the same team won the Coppa Italia in 2003-2004. After 3 years he moved to AC Milan, the same team won the Italian Super Cup 2004-2005. After two years at AC Milan, he moved to Ajax. In 2007 he retired and became a coach.
Jaap Stam is an indomitable name in the golden generation of Tulip football in the late 1990s, early 2000s. He has played 66 games for the Orange Devil, scoring three goals true to his love shirt number. After splitting his career he has led the U21 Ajax from the year 2014 to 2016. He is now the Reading club's head coach.
We can say the most beautiful days in Stam's career. He is not only effective but also delicate. With a height of 1m91, Stam is strong in the air but he rarely uses force. Stam has a good balance, good pace and skillful feet like Leonardo Bonucci or Mats Hummels in the present.
