Splinterlands is always loaded with challenges in all game modes, but also some modes or their configurations have been improved. For this reason we will talk about Custom Challenges, this option allows us to practice and challenge specific users, it is mainly a useful mode to confront friends.
Previously many users trained using the practice modes and challenges, but we could only select the opponent, even these were not configurable, as they were direct battles, but with this new update everything has improved. Because we can modify or customize the cards, levels, and mana.
Undoubtedly this option contributes much to the community, previously several users did live on Splinterlands on YouTube or on other networks to challenge their viewers, so I think it can be very useful for content creators to make use of these options, as usually among the viewers get users of different categories, and therefore it is useful to adjust the rules appropriately.

I think this is a great alternative to the tournament mode, as these require more time and certain requirements are met for a group of users to participate. From my point of view, I can compare this modality with those of other famous games in which tournaments are held, but using the matchmaking modality between specific users. That is to say, the tournaments are organized directly between users, since in this way they can organize formats that are only allowed externally.
I suggest that in the future more options can be added to these challenges, perhaps selecting multiple users to organize direct matchups or by points tables. It could also work as a challenge mode by betting, where everyone adds an amount of DEC or SPS and the funds go directly to the winner. As I mentioned, this is different from tournaments, as it is easier and quicker to set up, in which 2 or more users can play against each other.
