Human rights are a system of protections and privileges that every person is entitled to simply by virtue of being human. These rights are enshrined in various international treaties and conventions, as well as national constitutions and laws.
Though the exact definition of human rights can be contentious, there are certain fundamental rights that are widely recognized, such as the right to life, liberty, and security of person, freedom from torture, slavery, and arbitrary detention; freedom of conscience, religion, expression, assembly, and association, and equality before the law.
The realization of human rights is essential to the achievement of peace, justice, and dignity for all. In practice, these rights are often violated or denied. This can be due to structural factors such as poverty or discrimination, or due to the actions of individuals or groups.
Can we achieve universal human rights? To start, equal human rights must be established and recognized by international law. This will allow for better enforcement of existing human rights and help to prevent future violations. But laws alone are not enough, social, economic, and political changes must also be made within countries to ensure that everyone enjoys the same rights and protections.
We as individuals can also play a role in this. Through our actions and words, we can stand up against discrimination and violence. We can demand that our own government upholds human rights standards, both at home and abroad. And we can show solidarity with those who are struggling for their basic rights by lending our voice to their cause.
As a person, you have obligations to uphold the Universal human rights. This includes ensuring that everyone has access to the same basic rights and freedoms, regardless of who they are or where they live. It also means working to protect those who are vulnerable or at risk of exploitation, abuse, or violence.
I think that everybody is equal and deserves to be treated with dignity, no matter who they are or where they come from. I believe that everyone should have the same basic rights, including the right to life, freedom and education.
There is a lot of work to be done in order to achieve true equality and fairness for all. In many parts of the world, people are still discriminated against because of their race, religion or gender. This needs to change.
We need to do more to protect the rights of vulnerable people, such as refugees and asylum seekers. They often flee their homes in search of safety, but end up facing even more danger in the new countries. We need to do better at protecting their rights and ensuring that they can live safely and peacefully.
Let our children not grow up in a terrible world. Together we can make it better. It is our destiny to
suffer from the past, to long for the future, but to forget the present.
