Today I take utmost pride to introduce you to a human. A Bangladeshi Human. This human can’t read minds or fly. This human doesn’t have super speed or strength. So, what’s special about that human? Why someone should know about that human. What? I know you already guessed there is something super about that human. Yes, you are right. But before I tell you the story of that human, I want you to remind something that you forgot. Ok, don’t waste time. Just tell it and jump to the story. I know I am disappointing you. I am doing unnecessary chattering. Just listen to me for a moment. Can you do that please? If not then you are most welcome to jump to the next paragraph. If you believe me and still you are here then clear your mind for a moment. Please pay attention. It’s important. Take your time. Can you fully focus now? If not then please take time what’s the rush. So, shall we begin? Now, tell me what is the best creation of God? Solar system? Ecosystem? Galaxy? What do you think? It doesn’t matter what you think. God himself answered that proudly. Wow! So, what is it? How wonderful and amazing it is? I understand your excitement. But wait! Don’t you know it already! Me? Yes, you. Didn’t you understand? It’s you, me, and us who are known as humans. Isn’t it? There is nothing super than us. But I am not successful, I am not happy. How can you say that? Even all humans are not the same. Yes, you are right. But God doesn’t have any favorites. So, why we are like that. Don’t worry together we are going to discover that secret.
But first, let’s know about that Bangladeshi Human. This human is known by the name Shagufta Tabassum Ahmed. Her family is consist of four members. She and her brother used to live in Uttara for studies and her parents used to live in Rajshahi as her father was a professor there. On February 1, 2006, when her mother came to visit them that day her father disappeared from their house. Two days later his body was recovered from a sewage line near his residence. Professor’s son Sanjid Alvi Ahmed filed a murder case in Motihar Police Station on Feb 3. On Mar 18, 2007, a police investigation submitted a charge sheet accusing six suspects. Those charged included Mohiuddin, a former professor’s student who later became a colleague, former RU Shibir president Mahbubul Alam Salehi and Alam's father Ajumuddin Munshi, caretaker Jahangir Alam, Alam's brother former Chhatra Shibir activist Abdus Salam, and Salam's relative Nazmul. During the trial, Jahangir, Nazmul, and Salam testified that Mohiuddin persuaded them to murder the professor by promising them money, computers, and university jobs. Mohiuddin strongly denied any wrongdoing. Mohiuddin had applied for a promotion to the university, according to the police investigation. Her father was a member of the committee that reviewed his application. He informed the panel about some of Mohiuddin's obfuscations, and the claims have been proven in an investigation. Because of this, Mohiuddin planned his murder as well as organized for him to be murdered at his home and decided to dump his body in a manhole. A Rajshahi court sentenced four of the suspects – Mohiuddin, Jahangir, Salam, and Nazmul – to death on May 22, 2008, but Salehi and Ajumuddin were declared innocent. The case was then transferred to the High Court by the law. On April 21, 2013, the High Court accepted Mohiuddin and Jahangir's death sentences but lowered Salam and Nazmul's sentences to life in prison.
Our Bangladeshi Human was not happy with that decision. She wanted justice for her family. The case was running in an infinite direction. She knew what she wanted. She knew what she can achieve. So, later on, she herself becomes an advocate and fights for the justice which wasn’t served. Nine years later, the hearing for the case began. And she achieved what her family deserved. Justice!
Dr. Mohiuddin and Md Jahangir Alam were sentenced to death. Abdus Salam and Nazmul received life in prison.
