Whatever else anyone had done to Ukraine before, it didn't involve the level of destruction we are seeing now, millions of refugees, etc. I think that's why people care more now. Also, whatever went on in Ukranian politics before, outside influence or not, it didn't seem to be nearly as much concern to the Ukranians themselves as Russia invading. At least that's the impression I get from the few actual Ukranians i hear from.

I'm not trying to diminish the problems caused by outside interference. Even U.S. citizens have virtually no real control over their own government. But (depending on what the government is currently doing anyway) this would be a far less immediate concern than say an invasion by Russia.

I can understand being critical of what the U.S. has done. I can't understand using that as a justification for what Russia is doing now.
