My main "bank" is a local credit union which has always treated me pretty well so far. In contrast to CitiBank. I had a citibank account that I mostly used as an extra savings account. It also happened to have a checking account attached to it but I never used it. Then after a few years citibank started charging me a monthly fee for not using my checking account. Since this was more of a long term savings account I didn't really check it that often so it was a while before I noticed it. I called them, got a partial refund for all the fees they had taken out then changed the account to a different type in which the fees would not apply (no checking account basically). Fast forward a few years and they do the same damn thing. This time charging me a monthly fee for not having a qualifying direct deposit or some bullshit like that. Fuck them. I closed my account and would recommend that nobody EVER use citibank for anything. I moved that money (not a huge amount or anything) over to a Discover savings account. So far, so good but who knows what the future will bring.
