I'm experimenting with posting some random bits of my genealogy research here. This individual was born in about 1247 which is going quite far back. The key to tracing your ancestry this far back is often being descended in some regard from royalty. As I've mentioned, this isn't all that uncommon if you are of European descent. There are lots of obscure members of royalty and lots of people who are descended from them.
This particular individual is the second son of a nobleman so would definitely be more obscure than a first born son. Gramps struggles a bit on relationship calculations that go this far back and seems to get stuck here. I'm not sure how this individual is related to me except distantly of course.

Research comes from a variety of online sources, original documents and personal knowledge. Generally, if the source was from another researcher online, their original sources are used. More information and details about the sources can sometimes be found by clicking on the associated link at the bottom in the "Source References" section.
The information below is an extract from a report I generated via the Gramps genealogy software from a family tree I originally created with GenoPro and then modified to look reasonable here (as much as I could anyway).
