Hi. I'm Darkson, and I'm new to this place. I must say, setting up this account was one of the most rigorous account set up procedure I've ever encountered in all my years of setting up accounts. Lol😂. I'm turning 19 this year, so, all those years are not so much. Well it took me about three months to get this up and running. First it was some crazy server issues I could not really grasp. Months later, when I had given up, a friend told me about his successfully set up account. I tried again, and here I am. This is my first post, and honestly I spent some quality time wondering what to post. Then I went online, read a few posts and somebody gave the suggestion that writing about oneself was a good way to start. So, here goes:
Hi. I'm Darkson. I remember doing that before but for records, I'm doing it again. I'm Thinktwice Darkson, and now you must me wondering who bears Thinktwice Darkson yes? Me I guess. Now that is not my natural name. Darkson was born out of necessity, and a bit of circumstance. Before I tell you my real name, I should say a little more, you know, just for fun. So I'm from Nigeria, Akwa Ibom State to be precise (please holler if you're Nigerian too, or love Nigerians, or hate Nigerians!😂😂) I'm from this large, but minor, tribe called Ibibio, a bit of extension from the Efik tribe which is based in Southern Nigeria. So my parents, both Ibibio, deemed it fit to name me, and my two brothers, completely Ibibio names. Now our names were not just Ibibio, they were irregular so much so that even fellow Ibibios had trouble pronouncing our rather long and strange names. Imagine, my elder brother bears Tingwutobong (a name I couldn't spell till later in high school). It really is difficult to pronounce. Now my name is Manakere; simple, but strange. We were faced with the habitual "what?" When we met people for the first time and had to introduce ourselves. So imagine the scenario:
"Hi, I'm David."
"Hey. Manakere" (extends hand for handshake)
"What?"
"Manakere"
"I'm sorry. I didn't get that. What's your name again?"
"Manakere... You know what? Just call me Man" (I'll finally say from frustration).
And that did the trick. I thought maybe if I had a nickname it would be all better. So I anglicized my name. Manakere, Ibibio for "think again" turned to Thinktwice and my surname Okonson, Ibibio for Night turned to Darkson. Yeah call me ingenious😎. Indeed, I solved the name problem for a bit. I did not exactly change my name you know. The nickname thing was just for informal situations since my records, documents and people wh actually knew my real name stuck with it.
I like a lot of things. In actuality, I'm in the university currently, studying Law. But trust me, law was never my first choice. How I ended up doing the course is a longer tale itself (and I will tell whoever is interested enough to ask), but I must say I'm doing well enough and was probably meant to do the law thing. I am very social and make acquaintances easy. My definition of "friends" is a totally different one as I believe awarding the 'friend' status is relative on a number of factors (stuff I'll write on later). So yes, I make acquaintances easily. I also like to write. Poems, articles, stories, name them. I write on everything. Most importantly, I am very observative. I like to write what I see around me, portrayed by people. Suffices to say, I like to write on conducts, truths I am not a "know-it-all" or "self-righteous" person (as we all have our demons), I'm just another dude who writes a lot for fun.
I believe that is all you need to know about me, for now. I hope you liked this brief info about me, and the subsequent things I'll be posting. Do follow for updates, do comment too (I like to be interactive). I also hear upvoting works is helpful for morale; please do that too. Until next post, or comments section, ciao.
