So I've grown to learn that in today's world, it is completely necessary to mind one's business. Matter of fact, I'm a bit reputable for minding my business. This is because I have some tendency to be a bit coarse whilst giving honest opinion. To be honest, I'm not always coarse.. People just gave issues putting up with the truth when they come face to face with it.
So consider this story. I have a friend, female. We're a bit close and she tells me personal stuff sometimes (even when I don't ask) because I also have a reputation of solving people's problems (like a counsellor of some sort). So my friend, Grace, on Sunday tells me about how some dudes like to show off with their rides. I concurred with the regular, "well if you have a car you're gonna wanna show off with it yunno." She tells me how after church service, some strange guy walks up to her to talk to her (because, apparently, Grace is very pretty).
So while talking, the guy has to go get his Bible from where he was seated so he drops his car keys with Grace and asks her to watch them for him (that's where Grace says some dudes like to show off, cause the dude could have carried his keys with him; they're light enough). So she waits with the keys and the guy gets his bible.
Grace tells me she's a bit relieved when he returns and grabs his keys cause she was in a hurry to go home and she wasn't entirely comfortable around this dude. They both leave the church premises and the guy offers her a lift.
She tells me she hopped in the car and the guy took her back to school, where she stays in the hostel. She said at least she saved some public transport money. Then she asks for my opinion on that decision.
I told her she was wrong, considering this guy was a total stranger and only Lord knows what his intentions were.
She told me she thought it would be rude to turn down a genuine offer. I asked how she'd have known an offer was genuine if she didn't experience the entire thing. She could have been carried to a dilapidated/abandoned building and raped (and I wonder what her excuse would have been).
Grace didn't handle my opinion well. Matter of fact, we aren't talking anymore馃槀馃槀 cause she says I was too harsh in presenting my opinion. I told her it was the truth she could not handle.
And this is the primary reason I've resolved to minding my business. I realise people like others to massage their egos, make them feel good about themselves even when they're wrong. Now I just cant bring myself to do that馃槀.
In your opinion, what would you suggest??
