I watched about half of this interview a few weeks ago, which convinced me that there is a chance I could benefit from taking Ultrapure Creatine Monohydrate Creapure. I have been thinking about it.

After thinking about it a lot, and searching around town for the correct Brand, I decided to buy a 410g container of PVL 100% German Creatine, as stated. This is the bottle that I purchased, at Popeyes Nutrition store. This here is exactly what I bought;
"100% German Creatine from PVL boosts power and endurance, helping you improve performance and build muscle. PVL German Creatine is made with Creapure, the only German-made creatine monohydrate world-renowned for its unsurpassed 'every-batch-verified’ purity, potency, and quality. The highest quality creatine from PVL has a 5-year shelf stability, 99.99% minimum purity, and is Kosher, Halal, and vegan. Perform at your best with PVL 100% German Creatine helping boost power, build lean muscle and increase strength. [POWDER]" -- Info from NationalNutrition
I am not going to just start scooping it right away though, I tried calling my Doctor but the office is already closed. I have somewhat of a pre-existing condition, but I would like to know if the benefits outweigh the risks. After talking with the guy at the store, as well as doing some research and consulting Claude AI, I think it is reasonable to do a Kidney function test to at least determine an up to date baseline before I start taking Creatine.
The cognitive benefits, as well as the muscle benefits, sound great, but I don't want to risk damaging my kidneys further. It sounds like taking 5g per day could be safe, and the video makes it seem like taking 10g per day could even be beneficial, but I will at least let my doctor know what I have decided to do, and hear his caution. I may not need it, and I will return the bottle if after doing my renal function tests my evaluation changes.
It was less than $50 CAD for this bottle, I am not really out that much if it turns out that I don't want to take it. However if you watch the video interview, it seems that there is a case to be made for the general benefits of taking Creatine. I also have a friend who has been taking it and he says that it has been helpful. Tomorrow then, I will call my Doctors office again and see if he can get me in on Friday, or next week. Now that I have at least bought the correct Creapure reccomended in the interview, I can do my due diligence and prepare myself for this experiment.
In addition to Cognitive Benefits, there is also the Physical Benefits. I should exercise more, I always think. I was walking to the YMCA and back, a simple 2km adventure that is easy to do and easy not to do. If I start taking Creatine, I definitely will want to go for that walk afterwards. I should engage in more exercise, since Creatine will help me build muscle. Yet it is not a replacement for the hard work it will take to get stronger.
At my age, I need to take my health more seriously. I have been eating better, trying to reduce those unhealthy habits, and learn all I can about what is best for someone my age. While I know I probably won't live forever, I have been inspired greatly by the Immortal biohacker Bryan Johnson, from his social media posts, as well as the netflix documentary I finally watched the other week, Don't Die.
Growing up I heard all the time, "i'm going to die before I am 30' and other foolish sentiments. The death culture that we live in has always been unacceptable to me, especially now that I am older and I have in fact lost some of my friends who should still be alive, but are no longer with us. I have been health conscious and active all my life, and more than just living a long time, I want to feel great in my old age.
In order to have that kind of senior life, I need to do the right things now. No smoking, no more drinking, no drugs, no risky behavior like skydiving or bungee jumping. I need to ensure that I am doing at least the bare minimum to stay healthy and fit, like walking each day for at least 30-60 minutes, and lifting free weights in optimal ways for my major muscle groups. I need to do squats throughout the day, to offset my sedentary lifestyle. And I need to go to bed earlier whenever possible.
Taking Creatine may be beneficial, but it might also be risky. I will prepare, take measured doses, and track my progress as I go. I will stay in contact with my Doctor about my activities and my results, and when I do my bloodwork in the fall I can find out if my Kidney is experiencing any ill effects.
I also did a Plastic Detox a year ago, starting in July and in August, finishing early September. It was a gentle scrub made of Fulvic Acid and other components, and I think I felt it working. Since then I have cut out Plastic Water bottles, replaced plastic bowls and utensils with ceramic and metal alternatives, and used a Brita filter on my water consistently. I buy S. Pellegrino spring water in the glass bottles and refill them. It takes a bit more effort, but I don't want to be filled with toxic Micro-Plastics, or their Nano-Plastic particulates.
After doing that, I did my blood work, as well as a 24 hour heart rate and blood pressure monitor, and got a clean bill of health. I ordered a special test from Switzerland and tested my cellular health, in December 2025. My results came back and I was in the danger zone. Reading the full breakdown of my test results, I identified what I was lacking and began to remedy the situation. After 4 months I took another test, and the results showed that I was out of the danger zone but was still lacking in some areas. I adjusted my diet and have been consuming Sardine Filets in the morning to try to fill in that gap.
It has been a journey this past year, trying to improve my health with what resources I have available to me. I still falter from time to time, but have greatly reduced my sugar intake. I was drinking tons of pop years ago, then I reduced it to just ginger ale. Then, realizing how much sugar was still in ginger ale, I cut back further. Now my sugar mainly comes from the coffee creamer I drink in the morning, but if I limit myself to two cups only in the morning, and drink water for the rest of the day, I hope to bring my pre-diabetes sugar levels down too. I am eating cucumbers, and although I did buy a bag of Ruffles chips, I am going to eat them with the cucumbers, and I wont eat the whole bag in one sitting.
I think I am taking reasonable steps to stay healthy, and that I am measured and cautious in my actions. I may not be doing everything right, but I am trying to do more good things than bad, and over time I hope that these choices will lead to a healthier and happier future.
