Steempeak is still working, Steem still exists until the powerdowns are done. Right now Steemit Inc's new leadership is just discovering how curation works, I have seen that mrdelegation has given some massive delegations to some upvote accounts, to "curate". I am not sure what the future of Steem will be but the community is developing here on Hive.

I think Steem and Hive will be symbiotic for a while, and who is to say that when Steem is cheap that it is not a good time to buy? Steem might be successful, it will go on just like Hive will go on and it might be worth buying 5000 or 10,000 Steem if it goes as low as 0.08 USD again, which is its previous low. It could go up if there is still a good offering from the platform. Steemit.com needs a revamp desperately, I am hopeful they know what they are doing over there. Steem and Hive could both succeed, they have a common origin and users can choose either of them. It an ideological split between those who want a censored and centralized Steem and those who want an uncensored and decentralized Hive.
