Some people can't find the answers they are looking for in real life, and there are shows that teach you how you can turn yourself around by watching other characters suffer in similar predicaments. Superheroes like Batman and Spiderman aren't so different in this regard, they answer the question of "how do you become greater when everything is falling apart around you". It's pretty moving in my opinion.
