Undoubtedly, he is the best in the world. While I am not really a good fan of Messi, but I must say the truth. Ronaldo has been the only person playing closely to Messi's performance, but with Messi, Football is made easy. With how the game of soccer is going, it doubts if we can see anyone like Messi in the next 20 years.
If we are to imagine that Ronaldo isn't in this era, Messi would give been holding the award for the 11th times. They both respect themselves, and they both are king of soccer. But Messi is currently the ultimate king anyway.
Salah, Mane, and Van Dijk were the top Liverpool players listed to be close to getting the Ballon D'or for this year, but Van Dijk was considered to be the most valuable in the Liverpool squad. Overall, his performance, work he did for Liverpool to get the Champions League last season was not considered worth the award and Messi eventually got the Ballon d'Or. Van Dijk is the runner up.
Lionel Messi now holds a total of six Ballon D'or award which is the most in the history of soccer. I congratulate him and wish Ronaldo equality. I pray Ronaldo bank one more Ballon D'or because I am a fan of Ronaldo. :)))
