Wow, funny how time flies. So surprising that it's another Tuesday again that I get the opportunity to share those beautiful and amazing tunes that have one way or the other helped me.
I'm one of the millions that hardly listen to a gospel song. If I have a playlist of 300 songs maybe you will see two Christian songs in my playlist and this has just been me for so long. I think it was on Friday last week and I was having a discussion with myself, it's like a review of how far have gone in life, when the struggle started, and other sorts of things.
While I was having this discussion with myself, my neighbor who loves and plays almost only Christian music ever since have known her was playing her playlist of Christian music, I can't tell her to stop playing so I just use that as the entertainment to help me discussion go smoothly. While the music was playing in the background of my thoughts, my mind was quick to relate to some of those songs that I will be sharing here.
I was 17 years old when I stopped going to church and if I'm right the only time I do pray is when my bet ticket is not going as planned and the prayer goes like this ''God should allow this ticket to come", it went on for 3 years and I didn't see it as anything wrong. I was just leaving my life as it comes. I was living recklessly not minding God or anything but still, he kept on saving me, keeping me away from harm, protecting me even when I was going against him
I was listening to Cory Asbury - Reckless love when this hit me and the line that got to me most was
Lyrics:
Oh, the overwhelming, never-ending, reckless love of God
Oh, it chases me down, fights 'til I'm found, leaves the 99
And I couldn't earn it
I don't deserve it, still You give yourself away
Oh, the overwhelming, never-ending, reckless love of God
When I was Your foe, still Your love fought for me
You have been so, so good to me
When I felt no worth, You paid it all for me
You have been so, so kind to me
Oh, the overwhelming, never-ending reckless love of God
Oh, it chases me down, fights 'til I'm found,
leaves the 99 and I couldn't earn it
I don't deserve it, still You give yourself away
Oh, the overwhelming, never-ending reckless love of God
There's no shadow You won't light up
Mountain You won't climb up
Coming after me
There's no wall You won't kick down
Lie You won't tear down
Coming after me
The second song made me realize how far I was far from God and still, he loved and cared for me those times. I could relate to this song too Good Good Father by Chris Tomlin because if he wasn't a good father he would have abandoned me the time I was living reckless and not been his friend.
Lyrics:
Oh, it's love so undeniable
I, I can hardly speak
Peace so unexplainable
I, I can hardly think
As You call me deeper still
As You call me deeper still
As You call me deeper still into love, love, love
You're a good, good Father
It's who You are, it's who You are, it's who You are
And I'm loved by You
It's who I am, it's who I am, it's who I am
So the third song is 10,000 reason by Matt Redman and Jonas Myrin. If anyone listens to this particular song you would know it tells how good God is, so this song made me understand fully why he loves me and always care for me and why I should always worship him.
Lyrics:
Bless the Lord, O my soul
O my soul
Worship His holy name
Sing like never before
O my soul
I'll worship Your holy name
The sun comes up, it's a new day dawning
It's time to sing Your song again
Whatever may pass, and whatever lies before me
Let me be singing when the evening comes
Well, this story up there is my past actually because I started going back to church in 2021 and it's funny how God has been waiting for me to come back to him, it's a new church, and just three months before I started going there. I was voted in as the youth president, I'm happy being back there, and also I'm lucky he loved me despite everything.
Thanks to my neighbor because now I have more than one Christian song on my phone... Enjoy your day
