The Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, has reacted to the Senate determination on his non-appearance before the upper chamber, saying he owed them no expressions of remorse.
The IG said he didn't need to show up under the watchful eye of the legislators, noticing that a senior cop of the rank of Deputy Inspector-General or an Assistant Inspector-General could follow up for his benefit in an official limit at any capacity.
This, he included, is in consonance with Sections 7(1),312(1), 313(2) of the Police Act, an announcement on Wednesday in Abuja by the power representative, Jimoh Moshood expressed.
It clarified that Senator Dino Melaye was ensured fit to stand trial by specialists at the National Hospital before he was charged under the steady gaze of Chief Magistrate Courts in Wuse, Abuja and Lokoja.
The police portrayed the Senate determination against Idris as "a consider extortion, witch-chasing with insidious thought processes to hand-wind the IGP to debase the finish of equity" in a felonious and genuine offenses of criminal trick and unlawful ownership of disallowed guns for which Senator Dino Melaye was professedly arraigned by two important suspects, Kabiru Seidu otherwise known as Osama and Nuhu Salisu otherwise known as Small.
The announcement included, "The IG and the Nigeria Police Force won't be deflected by shakedown from any individual or gathering regardless of how profoundly set from the requirement of Law and Order and guaranteeing that the Rule of Law wins.
"The Nigeria Police Force, consequently, owes no conciliatory sentiment to any individual or gatherings in its push to guarantee the protection of peace, matchless quality of the rule that everyone must follow, and ensure that all Nigerians are liable to a similar law, regardless of what their position is in the general public."
Moshood requested that the general population ignore the determination of the Senate on Idris which he said was "naughtily gone for throwing slanders on the well deserved uprightness of the IG and the Nigeria Police Force."
He stated, "The Nigeria Police Force as a honest association will keep on holding the Senate in high regard however wishes to urge the Senate not to harbor criminal components among its overlay or support culpability."
"The Force won't be scared by any individual, gatherings or establishment, constituent or generally to relinquish from its sacred obligations of assurance of lives and property and due authorization of the run of law, and peace the nation over," the police representative said.
