We were invited to visit one of the village elders called Carmelo, to try some traditional food, and explore his way of life.

While we were there Carmelo showed us one of his puma skins which hung proudly on his wall. As well as this he had chairs covered in goat skin and made from local wood.

He had also recently built his own ovens which he showed us proudly, made out of mud and earth (the same materials he used to hand build his house).

We watched as Carmelo and his wife herded their goats. Despite tourism bringing in income for the locals around here, farming and tending to the land still represents a big part of their livelihood.
