Thank you! I always try to use the scientific names because they are universal. Every naturalist or scientist who studies insects will use the same set of names. The common name (or english name) is only used by a comparatively small group of people.
As for lens, you may be surprised to know that I don't use a 'proper' macro lens. I use a canon 50mm 1.8, which is really sharp considering its comparatively low cost, and I use a selection of extension tubes to help take macro images.
