Generally speaking numbers are down in Spring, and Summer records are much more numerous, both in numbers of species and also total numbers seen/recorded.

That said, there are number of species that 'flying' now, but they are seen in better habitats. Good places to go are large, old, well established woodland. My garden is in the middle of a village, which is surrounded by arable (crops) farmland, and isn't a good location. I can get up to 70 or 80 species a night in the middle of summer, but that is still comparably lower than the people who record in 'better' locations.

Will be trying again in 2 or 3 weeks time, and will expect better results then (fingers crossed!)
