Description from Strava: Obligatory New Year's Day Run/Post!

Its always good to start the New Year with good intentions, and as its a Bank Holiday, I have the opportunity to do it during daylight hours instead running in the darkness during the evenings.

I did almost head down to the local parkrun, but the weather forecast was to be appallingly wet, and atrocious winds. The 'new years day' parkrun events are always rammed anyway, so I decided to give it a miss, and will aim for the one on Saturday instead.

The rubbish weather was throughout the night and into this morning, but by 11 am it had improved somewhat, so I duly laced up my trainers and headed out. The route was gonna be the usual loop around the village, but I decided to add a lil' loop into to it, for an overall distance of 7km.

I'm still working out what my goals in running are going to be this year, but I've decided that the distance one will be 3,000. A spot of quick maths shows that I will need to average 57.7km each week for the next 52 weeks, and that is easily doable if I'm consistent.

I also want to do a couple of different goals, which will help to keep me consistant, for example as you can see by the below image I've only completed a Parkrun in 3 calender months:

Considering there are events practically on my doorstep every weekend, I've got no excuse for why I've avoided it for the other 9 months.

I can tick off January almost straight away by heading to parkrun this coming Saturday!

I've also only visited 3 locations, so will be looking to visit some new ones in the coming year. I've got other aims/goals in mind (running and non-running), but they need a little bit of thought before I announce them.

Anyway, with the run done, its now time to enjoy the rest of my day off, so will take this moment to wish you all a Happy New Year . Wishing you all Health and Happiness for 2025!

About the Athlete: Living in the UK, I am an intermittent Runner, but always striving for more consistency. When I'm not training I can be found photographing insects or listening to really loud angry music (which is the best type of music obviously!)
