I took my morning walk to Maurie Jacobs Park again today. It rained again, although not as heavily as on Wednesday. I snapped a photo from under the small roof of the “runners news” bulletin board in the park.

I have been routinely playing the AR games Harry Potter: Wizards Unite and Pokemon Go on my walks. Yesterday Wizards Unite introduced the new “Knight Bus” feature, which basically gives you a fortress that you’re always in range of, so you can do wizarding challenges whenever you want instead of being geographically constrained. They’ve been trying to make these games easier to play under Coronavirus conditions and this feature seems to be focused on that.

Pokémon Go is apparently going to be getting something slightly similar soon in the form of long-distance raid passes. It seems like it won’t be as forgiving, since you’ll need to buy them with in-game coins and you’ll still be geographically constrained to your map-visible area. Personally, as someone who generally plays the game solo, I wish they would take a step beyond just ameliorating the constraints of social distancing on the “raid party” style of play and realize that they have too much of the game dependent on that style of play (e.g. 5-star raids being the only way to get legendaries).
