I have been flying drones now for more than 3 years and consider myself to be a good and, most importantly, safe pilot.
In the beginning though I made some rookie mistakes. This is my worst mistake and luckiest escape.
This video highlights the importance of reconnaissance work before using a waypoint app such as Litchi. I was so eager to try it I didn't bother to check what was in the field next door and hurriedly plotted a short waypoint mission, a mistake I won't make twice. I was so lucky not to lose my brand new drone. Even more so considering I came back through the power lines upon the return.
Drone flying is awesome but please, please be careful. Don't use waypoints unless you really have to and then only if you've done your homework and plotted the correct course. Don't do what I did.
