A short distance from Verona stands the Scaligero Castle of Soave in Val Tramigna, restored at the end of the nineteenth century by the owner sen. Camuzzoni, former Mayor of Verona until 1883. At the Castle, yes
it enters through a pre-castle, after passing from the village to the citadel, according to a pattern found in other Italian fortified cities.
In fact, the Scaliger fortified cities were conceived as completely self-sufficient citadels able to withstand long sieges.
