A frosty landscape recently allowed me to take some photos during day that almost look infrared in nature. The trees where completely blanketed with white frost and the sky was a clear blue and thus allowing for this strong contrast. The first picture of especially looks like the photo was taken with infrared as the snow flakes that blew of the trees looks like stars across the sky.

Here is another photo of what seems like a wall of trees. Most of the trees are birches, or more specifically hanging birch aka silver birch. They look quite spectacular when you have snow and frost as it sticks to the hanging branches.

This tree on the other hand I’m not so sure of the specific name. It is some kind of birch, but it was planted outside the IKEA head office. It looks almost like something you would study under a microscope, like mycelium.

Now let’s switch to some close up photography instead. It’s a macro shot of a small twig that had a cool texture from the frost.

Here’s another plant, and as the sun is setting in the background it creates a nice and strong silhouette.

Now the weather has changed and most of the snow has melted. It’s quite sad because the snow and frost is what makes the landscape comes alive this time of year. But it’s early l, we still have a few months left of winter here so I’m sure there will be more chances to capture nature at its best.

This is my submission for the monomad challenge. Hope everyone is doing great and wish everyone a happy new year !
