Was chilling at home the other night. Got tired of playing video games. There was no NBA game on. My YouTube watch later list was caught up. I didn’t feel like watching a movie or tv show. There was not much else to do besides get out the tripods and lights to take some photos of myself.
Taking some photos is exactly what I did. Four tripods, four different lights, and myself & my iPhone. The same combination of equipment and personnel as usual. I would take photos of other people, but this night I was once again the only option. If you can’t stand to see shirtless photos of me, then why are you even reading this?
I’m guessing you’re still here and you are indeed able to appreciate quality portraits. There’s plenty of that for you today, just take a look at the photos attached to this post.
My plan for this one was to include my colorful clothing and shoe racks as the background. Then use my two colored led lights to add even more vibrance to the background. Then I used my two remaining lights to emit a natural light to highlight my face.
It’s both incredibly fun and an absolute pain to set all of this stuff up every time, if only I had a studio that was always ready to go. For now, I continue to make do with what I have.
Posing is the hardest part about taking photos of yourself. I have 10 seconds to strike my pose before the photo timer completes. Each shot has me awkwardly moving around until I finally find my place. It’s pretty comical to watch I’m sure, but it’s only me so no laughs were had.
I totally love how colorful these all turned out. That was the goal and I think I definitely accomplished it. I don’t take photos of myself daily, but I try to make it a somewhat common occurrence. Every week or two seems fair. This is a great way to track my progress in terms of fitness and aging. It’s also just a whole lot of fun and gives me something attractive to share on Liketu.
If you enjoyed hearing a little bit about the process and especially the results, then feel free to drop a comment and let me know. This will not be the last time I post photos like these, but who knows when the next time will be...
