Black Ops is king 👑

I used to be more of a Modern Warfare guy, but as time goes on, I find myself appreciating the Black Ops games a lot more. It's still a close battle, but for me, Black Ops wins as of late.

Since I've been revisiting COD titles in lieu of the upcoming MWIII release, I thought it was about time that I finally reinstall Black Ops IV. I remembered this as an incredibly fun multiplayer experience, but also the start of them over-monetizing the weapons and operator skins. The gameplay was amazing, but the feeling of constantly unlocking new things, like I had in the previous year's title WWII, was coming to an end.

BO4 is the only COD that requires you to manually activate your health regeneration. Although that sounds like it could be a problem, it was actually one of the things I loved about this game the most. Getting back into the game after so many years off, however, this mechanic often left me in gunfights with half health because I'd forget to self-heal. The main benefit of this is the fact that you can recover your health as soon as you kill your enemy, instead of having to hide out for 5 seconds for your health to recover.

The operators were slightly unbalanced in BO4, but it wasn't game-breaking. The fact that visibility was so good in this game made up for that. There is a lot of color and brightly lit maps which the enemy characters don't blend into. This is how COD should be, screw the visibility in titles like Vanguard.

Black Ops 4 isn't my favorite Black Ops Game ever, but it is a close 3rd or 4th place. Cold War and Black Ops 2 were just too damn good. BO and BO3 were both great games too, but I believe BO4 was more fun to me than those.

I really do hope that we get some sort of Black Ops game in 2024. Please, no more Modern Warfare for a while. A continuation of Cold War would be nice, perhaps something set during the Vietnam War. I could see a game like that really reinvigorating the series. Especially if COD finally decides to ditch the previous generation of consoles, goodbye PS4 and Xbox One. I feel that the older hardware is still holding back COD from reaching that next-gen level that we deserve to be playing.
