May the peace and love of Christ be with you on this day.
When you look at the congregation to which you belong and know that it is the body of Christ, we stop to observe the behavior and treatment between the brothers, and you can deeply observe whether or not there is unity.
Unity is synonymous with harmony. However, we often notice that this harmony is lacking in the congregations where we gather to praise and worship God.
In the Scriptures we find:
John 17: 21-23
21 For all to be one; as you, O Father, in me and I in you, may they also be one in us; So the world thinks you sent me. 22 The glory you gave me, I have given you, that you may be one, just as we are one. 23 Me in them, and you in me, so that they may be perfect in unity, so that the world knows that you sent me and that you have loved them as you have loved me.
Although it is a mandate from God, we recognize that one of the main problems facing the church of Jesus Christ today is the lack of union of the different congregations, whether local, national and international; product of the multiple existing denominations of churches.
It is common to hear some members of the church say: I am Pentecost, others say I am a Baptist, others, conservatives and other liberals. In short, the denominations go in so many different directions that hinder the unity of the church of Jesus Christ.
The Lord's greatest desire is as his Word says: "May all be one; like you, O Father, in me and I in you, may they also be one in us."
If all denominations claiming to be the church of the Lord understand the depth of what the Lord Jesus reveals in his word, they would run to embrace and embark on the path of the true unity of the Lord's church.
The foundation of unity is that all Christians obey what the Lord commands in his Word and seek to be united by the powerful and majestic Holy Spirit that dwells in each one of us.
The powerful glory of the Father in Jesus was the Holy Spirit, and when Jesus ascended to the presence of the Father, that same glory left his disciples. If the church has the glory that was in Jesus, that same glory is what it does, that both the church and the Lord are also one.
The power of the Holy Spirit is the fundamental factor for unity. Let us diligently ensure that the Holy Spirit does his work in us, so that we can bear witness to the world that Jesus is in the church and is the giver of a new life, so that the world believes and converts to the Lord.
Consider this, if the world sees that the church is divided, and that each one walks on one side, with different denominations, we will be stumbling upon the world, and we will hardly believe in Jesus Christ as their savior.
In that sense, perfect Unity is that, both the church and Jesus and the Father; Be one.
If we allow perfect unity to be achieved, then good oil, which is the Holy Spirit, will produce the great revival fire that the Lord's church has never experienced.
If this happens, we can say: look how good and how delicious it is to inhabit the brothers together in harmony (Psalm 133: 1-2).
