In the Gospel of Luke 2: 25-35, there is an interesting story of an elder named Simeon, who had received a promise from God in which Simeon would have the privilege of seeing the savior of the world and then the death of the elder would occur.
We may wonder if perhaps Simeon, while walking slowly toward the temple, thought: “The years are running out. How long will I have to wait until God answers my prayer? How long had it been since he received the special word from the Lord? Five years? Ten years? It did not matter. Each day I brought him closer to the fulfillment of God's promise: "that he would not see death before seeing the Lord's Anointed" (Luke 2:26).
At that time, a young couple arrived on the porch of the temple with their newborn son. Simeòn thought, it's the boy!
He approached the young family, took the baby in his arms and knew immediately that it was the One to whom he had waited so long.
The Lord always keeps his promises, and this faithful servant of God had the opportunity to witness the Savior, as promised.
He took Jesus in his arms and blessed him by saying: “Now, Lord, you dismiss your servant in peace, according to your word; because my eyes saw your salvation ”(Lk 2, 29-30).
