Hive without HBD - by
A user contemplates Hive without the HBD stablecoin, arguing that HBD has become less suitable due to lower Hive prices and changing economics. They note selling pressure from HBD conversions and DHF funding, propose removing HBD by temporarily reducing all rewards (author, curator, witness) by 33.3% to accumulate a Hive treasury, then gradually payout HBD holders in Hive over several years, potentially until around 2028. The plan envisions front ends showing Hive-denominated payouts, no need for HBD, and a long-term transition back to normal minting after HBD is fully converted, aiming to alleviate selling pressure and pivot the ecosystem away from the stablecoin.
