Hey, hey! Today I'm gonna talk to you about the reason why I've been a bit absent from my posts, and I'll reveal some exciting details that could contribute to the Cuban community in the future. [ENGLISH VERSION IS BELOW]

Llegaban las horas previas, me costaba much铆simo dormirme el d铆a antes.

Mi compa帽era de cr铆menes, desde que tengo memoria 馃槀

As铆 naci贸 Estilo Viajero.

alt

A este post no pod铆an faltarles los autos, si no no soy yo 馃榿

Nos leemos 馃憢 en pr贸ximos art铆culos ...

You probably don't know me, and that's cool. I haven't been writing for months. Believe me, every day I've wanted to come back, and here I am, finally! Let's start from the beginning (again)...

alt

My name is Daniel, and during the week, I'm a medical student. I'm in my fourth year (currently aspiring to be a pediatrician). If you didn't catch my latest #weekend-engagement post, on weekends, I work as a tour guide at my travel agency (that's why I've been MIA).
If you take a moment to step away from this article and browse through my blog, you'll mostly find posts about cars, especially the classic ones that are abundant in Cuba (the famous "almendrones"). That's my true passion, inherited from my father. Occasionally, I would talk a little about my rotations in medicine (finding the silver lining in the midst of it all). When I stopped posting, I was in the middle of a challenge to publish throughout the entire week. I was halfway there and confident that I would achieve it, but life has a way of surprising us... So, what happened that led me to step away from my writing?

alt

You don麓t have to go out to look for it 馃槄

In recent times, there has been an explosion of agencies or projects dedicated to excursions in Cuba (if you're from the island, it's very likely that you've already traveled with one). Many excursion projects were born in the months of July and August. Among various reasons, we can say that the state-owned company responsible for this doesn't offer the best options for domestic tourism. In addition to that, different transportation-related workplaces have made it easier to lease their buses, making it simple to create these kinds of "ventures" (I hope to delve deeper into this topic in future articles).

alt

To understand why I'm giving you this explanation, we need to travel about 10 years back in time.
Ever since I was a kid, travel has been a part of my life, thanks to my parents who worked in the tourism sector. I remember having a calendar where I would cross off the days until our vacation. As the date approached, the preparations would begin: my parents would take care of the details, asking their friends for information about the place (the internet was still very limited back then).
The time for a new adventure was approaching, and it was time to pack our suitcases. That was the only part I didn't enjoy; it always seemed tedious to me. With just a change of clothes, I was happy. On the other hand, my sister would pack everything, just in case this or that happened, even though she was still very little. The hours leading up to the trip were filled with excitement, and I found it extremely difficult to fall asleep the night before. Meanwhile, my sister would sleep peacefully, like a log. These roles would switch later on: she would enjoy looking at the scenery during the journey, while I would doze off from accumulated fatigue (many times, I wouldn't even notice the road).

alt

My partner in crime for as long as I can remember

Finally, we would arrive at our destination, whether it was a beach or a mountain. The feeling of being in a new place never ceased to appear (and still doesn't), and it felt incredible. I did everything together with my sister, and I have great memories of that stage. Photos were taken with digital cameras, we would play with other kids who were also there, making friends without needing to exchange numbers. The only screen we would see was the TV at night. Social media hadn't made its way to Cuba yet, and board games ruled the night.

alt

Time passed, we grew up, my parents changed jobs, and ten thousand things happened. Traveling became less and less frequent, but we never forgot that special feeling of discovering a new place and experiencing other sensations that I'm not capable of describing, but I'm sure you, my dear reader, know exactly what I'm talking about.

alt

Beauties like these are made to be admired

I had conversations with many of my classmates, without conducting a formal survey, and I realized that most of them hadn't visited the places I had as a child. That was reason enough for me to gather my team and get to work (well, we did some other research too, but you get the idea).
After several small and quick meetings on WhatsApp, we defined that we wanted to create a project aimed at young people, something different and as personalized as possible for our target clients, who would mostly be our friends or friends of our friends. And that's how Estilo Viajero was born.

alt

You can find it as estiloviajerocu@estiloviajerocu

In the beginning, Estilo Viajero took up all of my time. It was very challenging to fulfill my daily routine, and it was to be expected. Each one of us was a manager, promoter, and even a guide. The work had no set schedule; it started from the moment we opened our eyes until exhaustion prevented us from continuing. On several occasions, we had to speak with clients to confirm their reservations for the next day. In the early trips, there were details and coordination tasks that we had to handle from Havana. There were countless phone calls, and I spent who knows how many hours on the phone. It was a complete madness. I must say that I loved every bit of it (and so did my team). It was what we had planned, and we are happy with what we have achieved, although we are not satisfied yet. We know we can accomplish more. If we had to do it all over again, I'm sure we would (it may sound romantic, but personally, it doesn't feel like work to me).

alt

One thing I'm particularly proud of, after months of learning, is that my team is bringing Estilo Viajero to HIVE. So, it's a new venture on HIVE. The classes have been held on the road, next to a river, or even on the beach. It took us a while because we were short on time and had a heavy workload (perhaps a bit late, but if there's one thing I've learned from other Hivers, it's that the important thing is to start).
I ain't a parent yet, but I get how parents feel when they see their kids achieve something. Gotta say, I'm proud of my team. They've learned what it takes to kick off on Hive. Now comes the tough part, growing and staying on Hive. But let me tell ya, they're bringing some top-notch content and a whole lotta enthusiasm to contribute to the ecosystem. Hope y'all enjoy what they got to offer.

alt

I think this is one of the images in which my tiredness is most noticeable

As for me, I wanna keep sharing my quirky articles about classic cars in Cuba and the whole shebang of automotive world. Throw in a few tales I've gathered on my travels. Plus, I'm keen on getting involved in those interactive activities that really helped me hone my writing skills. Gotta get back on track with my posting game, just like before I took a breather.
Won't be a walk in the park, but the process in HIVE is always a blast. Before I sign off, I'd love to hear from you:

This post could not miss the cars, otherwise it's not me 馃榿.

What's new around here? If you're new, please leave a comment with your username so I can follow you and read your posts. What do you think I shouldn't miss reading to continue growing in this ecosystem? I still need to catch up a bit.

See you 馃憢 in upcoming articles...
