As well as being my goals, it's also for the #MyLeoGoals contest found here.
My Leo Goals for 2023
Having reached my goal of going from roughly 30k LP last year to over 50k, it's obvious how powerful it can be to have a goal. Instead of just doing a broad "I want as much as I can get" goal, it's nice to have something down on paper you can look at to track your progress. You are able to think about where you currently stand and look ahead to where you want to be, and then look at the things that helped you get here and what you can replicate and/or change to help you reach the next goal.
With that in mind, I'm going to look back at how I was able to more than double my stake in the last 12 months and see what I can continue to do or possibly do better to help me reach my next goal.
2022
The first thing I did last year, and probably the most important, was that I was active almost every single day. Even on the days when I was busy or distracted or just not up to doing anything creative, I was at least able to get myself on my computer to open up, read, and vote on a few articles. For the first half of the year, I was also frequently in the top ten on the engagement charts with all of my commenting and voting. I didn't post a ton, but I was still actively participating on the curation side so my account never stood still. It was always moving forwards.
That changed somewhat over the summer and into the fall. We went through a transition with my business so I had to spend a lot more time managing that during our busy season so my curation fell away. I was still able to get on and read and vote on things, but my commenting went way down and my posting became almost non-existent. The goal is to eventually build a big enough income online that I don't have to actually run my business anymore. But there's a long way to go until that happens so....gotta keep paying the bills.
Which brings me to the second thing I did that helped me reach my goal. I bought LEO off the market. There was a time when 1 Hive token would get you close to 10 LEO tokens. That ratio just seemed too good for me to pass up, so I did a few buys that jumped my LP by converting some of my Hive into LEO. So far that seems like a good move. Right now, for instance, the ratio is closer to 6 to 1. Who knows what will happen in the months ahead, but it was definitely a contributing factor to reaching my goal last year.
So, what is my goal for 2023 and what do I want to do to achieve it?
2023 Goals
1. 100,000 LP
I'm setting my goal at 100k LP. Right now I am at 65,456 LP so that is over a 50% jump. I feel like that is a very realistic and attainable goal and it might actually be a little light. It will depend a LOT on how the market performs next year. If the price moves up, it will become a lot more difficult to hit this number but I think I will still be able to do it. If it continues to float around these levels for the next 6-9 months, then I will hope to reach this number by the end of July and reset a new goal for year-end. Possibly 125k or even Apex Lion status at 150k.
2. Participate in LPUDs
I also plan to participate in all 12 Leo PowerUp Days (#LPUD) with a goal of 1000 LP minimum for the first one and then +100 LP to each one thereafter. 1000 in January, 1100 in February, 1200 in March, etc. As a short term goal, those numbers will be easy to monitor, and (assuming I hit them) will get me to over 84k LP by the end of the year alone. It will also mean I won't get to October and find my end of year goal is too far away to see. Hopefully I'll be able to do more each month, but we'll see.
One thing that hurt my progress this past year was my involvement with #Splinterlands, #dCrops, #dCity, and #PsyberX. I don't regret buying into those games. In fact, I think they are all going to turn out to be great investments. But, a lot of the fiat I could have used to build my #Leo and #Hive stakes was eaten up by building my deck/farm/city/stake in those games. This year I don't plan on adding nearly as much to those games. That will hopefully free up some fiat to build other things.
Effort Goals
In the meantime, I have set some effort goals to help me stay active and engaged so that my stake can keep growing organically at a rapid pace.
- I am committing to making at least 10 comments a day again, something I was doing at the beginning of last year. Only this time, I'm writing it down as an actual goal. Hopefully that will help keep me motivated to stay with it when things get busy over the summer.
- I have set a personal goal to get the @HiveBuzz badges for at least one "Monthly Author" badge and 13 "Weekly Author" badges. If I manage to get the monthly, that's four weekly right there (even if I do it in February), :-) so hopefully I can form a writing habit and achieve these goals throughout the year. Who knows, maybe I'll get on a roll and just keep it going. Stranger things have happened.
- The third effort goal I have is to get involved in a project somehow. Whether it's being a moderator on Discord, writing a weekly article for a community, or even just adding definitions to #LeoGlossary or similar projects. There are literally dozens of ways to become more involved in many different communities. And everybody needs the help. While I'm doing my curating, I'll keep my eyes open and see if I can find something that won't feel like "work". I've got enough of that in real life, I don't want to add to my stress level online. If it loses its fun, it becomes much harder to do.
In conclusion, 2022 was a good year and I'm looking to make 2023 even better. My year-end goal is set at 100,000 LP and I've given myself three effort goals I think will help me get there. If the markets stay bearish, I'll look at reaching my goal early and then possibly hitting my stretch goals of 125k or 150k by the end of the year.
There's the plan. It's on paper. Now I just have to go out and do it.
Happy New Year!!!
