Have you ever met a "famous" person? Someone you've watched on TV or seen on social media? Isn't it crazy how when you meet them in person, they actually end up being just ordinary people with two legs, two arms, wearing clothes just like the rest of us? They talk, breathe, eat, walk just like "normal" human beings. Do you want to know why? Because they ARE. :-)
Sure, if you're talking about athletes then some of them are crazy "big" or "tall" or "built", but even then, most of the time they are just versions of ourselves that are in much better shape. lol
I remember playing pickup basketball against some former Minnesota Twins, including Kirby Puckett. He was one of the funniest guys you could ever be around, at least in that setting. Always cracking jokes and having fun. But when we played basketball, I was every bit as good as he was. Here's a World Series hero and bonafide superstar in baseball and I'm schooling him on the basketball floor. It was pretty eye-opening. We're all just normal people trying to make our way through this life.
My wife and I get into arguments about this occasionally, usually over politics, of course. I maintain that what is happening in government is important for us to pay attention to. The things our leaders are doing, the decisions they're making, the policies they're implementing have a very real affect on our daily lives and we need to understand that and vote accordingly. She, on the other hand, votes one way because her daddy voted that way, and listens to everything reported with a complete bias to hear things the way she wants to hear them. It drives me nuts.
The point of these stories is that we all matter. No one of us is more important than the others. We all have a unique background and a unique perspective on life going on around us and no one knows what it's like to be in our shoes.
This is what Hive is about. It is a community of people from all different parts of the world, each with our own upbringing, our own views, and our own goals for what we want our lives to be like. But here, on #Hive, we also have a shared vision of what this place can become. That is powerful.
Each of us has a role to play and each of us can make a huge difference in making that vision a reality. As I said in a comment the other day, you never know when the person you impact with your articles or comments or threads is going to be that one person that brings #Hive to the masses. And because of that, it's important that we just keep moving forward, staying consistent and engaged, until we make this vision real.
It's all here. The pieces continue to be put into place. It's up to each of us to use them to get us to the next level.
So, never feel like your voice doesn't matter. It does. It's vitally important to all of our collective success. If you're feeling discouraged, chances are others feel that way too. So do something about it. Write, research, thread, comment, whatever but let your voice be heard.
This isn't a daycare, but the vast majority of us care and want us all to succeed. It's there for the taking. Brick by brick. Day by day. Let's just do it.
#Hive is the Way.
