Since Luke was born we have always read books to him. Since he could crawl he would work his way over to the bookshelf and pull all of his books out. We used to catch him sitting and reading to himself. Well, he may have just been making up words and sounds as he flipped the pages but to him at that early age, this is what he thought reading was. He wore out a version of Green Eggs and Ham. We still have it with half of the pages ripped out.

Now that Luke just turned six years old his reading level has definitely impressed me. He is reading books by himself and often requires little to no help with words. The most impressive thing about it is that Luke goes to a French First Language school so he does not learn any English phonetics or words while at school.

Every night before bed I sit down with him and read one or two books. I treat this as a chance for learning, he looks at it as a chance to stay up a little bit later. Either way, I like to think that we are making great memories together.

I started recording Luke reading at night and making videos to keep as memories. Every now and then I share one of them on Youtube.

The one I am sharing today is his current favourite book. It is The Very Bad Bunny by marilyn sadler. If you like the book please check your local bookstore and pick up a copy!
