Hello everyone, I am still new here and don't know exactly how much of the site works. If you'd be so kind so kind as to help out a newb, I would greatly appreciate it.
I was just looking at my "payouts" from comments that I've posted. I am unsure as to exactly how all of this steem business works.
Once I get paid out, it has a value for "author", and a value for "curators". What exactly does this mean? Additionally, when reviewing these amounts, I noticed that the amount deposited, or received in my account is not the same.
I was viewing my wallet, and saw up at the top I had a small amount of steem dollars. I decided to click the "redeem/transfer button up top. Now that I'm looking at my balance, I see that it is a lot less than what I saw as "payouts" on various comments etc. How exactly are these payouts calculated. Also, how does the whole power up vs. 50/50 work out? Is that perhaps why my balance is lower in my wallet? Do payouts for comments automatically go 50/50?
Am I thinking of this correctly? I can transfer my Steem into a savings account on here and earn interest? Does anyone know what that interest rate is? Currently, it just says i'm earning zero percent, which I'm assuming is because I have none in there. Does anybody use it? Would you recommend it?
Just the platform and the concept of steem power in general. As of right now, I'm choosing to "power up". It's my understanding that this gives you moore "steem power", as opposed to getting a monetary reward. So this is basically like getting more clout on the site - i.e. having your upvote carry more weight etc.?
