BTC is actually extra vulnerable to double-spend attacks because of replace-by-fee, which more easily allows a higher-fee duplicate of a transaction to supersede the original. To make things worse, the blocks are made every 10 minutes. When the network is congested it could-take 20, 30 ,40 , 50......... minutes. 

These situations are only going to get worse over time with scaling issues and mining issues pop up. When you look for a coin to invest in think of something that can handle loads of Tx that also has a low block time. Even 60 second block time is a great improvement. Realistically a below 15 second block time will enable merchants to sell without worrying about accepting 0 confirmation Tx.
