Welcome: Hey ya'll! How's it goin? D-pend here, I'm down in the good ol' Lone Star State for Christmas for the family. Fun times! Anyway, as I mentioned in the past, I want to start getting into the habit of recording myself reciting my pieces, as I think it will help people enjoy and understand them more. Especially with the more rhythmic spoken-word pieces, it might turn on some major light bulbs! As a trained musician, I think of poetry as the flow and cadence of syllables. Therefore, it should hopefully be aesthetically pleasing and enjoyable even to people who can't speak English. At least, that is what I aspire to. So here ya go, uploaded to

Listening/Reading Notes: This piece is discusses the dark side of sense perception and the materialistic approach to life. It paints a dreary image, but the hint of glimmering hope is there as well. In "Zombified eyes" the macabre beauty of the flesh is both celebrated and lamented. In it the long tradition of regarding the flesh as "evil" or "unspiritual" is also subtly satirized. In fact, in most of my pieces, there is an undertone of very dry humor/ self-aware histrionics that many miss, thinking I am dead serious.
I still maintain the belief that logical explanations of art are a sort of crutch and illusion to be ultimately discarded. The appreciation of art is the process in which the reader/audience constructs their own subjective, personal meaning from something which (in and of itself) has no (explicable) meaning other than that which it is. That is the magic of art!

Zombified eyes
.Eyes tunnel out;
They bring back cargo.
They bring back substance &
Enact enbargos on sustenance.
.
They lunch on shallow sense;
Dine on shady 'tasms dense.
.
They praise stones on pedestals;
Petrify the heavens with
Desublimated metals.
.
Welcome to the revelry that sickens;
Guilt-beauty-hedonism relentless
Quickening armageddon's approach.
.
Don't let the brimstone encroach
On serenity, quivering with cosmic averration
Asserting the intangible in liberated elation.
.
Watch the corpses
Speak with parched lips,
Lick with grey tongues,
Their mind-tentacles extend,
Wrap about the nearest vitality
Rend merciless their foe, vivacity.
.
Life is a rare morsel indeed,
To behold in zombified eyes
Filled with punishing greed.
