This is a beautiful post. Did you know that Stevie Ray Vaughan was my favorite blues guitarist when I was a teenager? I always wished I could play guitar like SRV. Later, Jimi Hendrix became a close second, and finally I held them both in equal regard as absolute monsters and innovators of the expression of the guitar as a blues instrument in the modern era.

Though I was born in 1990, many of my peers in high school and college greatly admired the miniature renaissance of music, art, and folk culture that occurred in the US during the 1960s and 1970s — romanticizing those decades, while being youthfully naive to the dark side of those days.

I never knew about the connection with David Bowie. Of course I am familiar with Stevie's substance addiction issues and later commitment to sobriety, followed by his tragic and untimely death in a helicopter crash.

Reading your posts on the word of the week always help inspire me to take the plunge and complete an entry myself. In this case, I started writing a short piece of fiction that — quite synchronistically — has for its main theme the seeming chaos, disorder, violence, and insanity of the human world from the point of view of a benevolent extraterrestrial assigned to our planet for a millenia to observe and understand our species.
