city rain walk
In mirror of the slanted pave
I see myself, the rainslick plain
is muttering, the while I walk
and wade the smallest seas.
Then continents of grates and lawns
and all their tribes of flor and faun
spin new tales from my trail's wool
to blanket sleepy knolls.
Into fervent waking dreams
we fall, and mutters still the rain;
vehicles belligerate
in pleasure-roiled smog.
