Hello Black and White community!!!
Today in my suite of ancient urban buildings I present to you some streets and buildings of a very small medieval town in France.
After much research, this city full of history won me over and I will return there to verify all its legends and secrets.
The location of the town would in fact have been occupied well before the Gallo-Roman era. Some traces of flint and bones from the Stone Age have been found in caves around the town. The confluence of roads in a fertile valley, irrigated by the two rivers, allowed the development of a small village which would become the city of today.
I learned that the monks settled after converting the last survivors of the Roman era to their religion. To found the first buildings there. But for this they had to irrigate the entire region. The land was rich and fertile but the swamps made the place difficult to live in.
All the buildings with half-timbering (crossed oak beams) date, for the oldest, from the time of the monks.
Many places like this are occupied by restaurants and bars where local residents enjoy spending time in their free time. Many very old buildings are still in very good condition following numerous renovations.
The majority of the walls are white limestone, but many have been stained by pollution from buses and cars. Today all thermal vehicles are prohibited in the city center, just a tram, electric car, a scooter, a bicycle and a pedestrian street.
This square overlooks a tower and at the foot you can find a museum of fine arts.
I hope that this little visit has pleased you more. I will try to take more photos for you in order to help you discover this wonderful city which is a good place to live. I have the idea of moving there soon.
