Today, an idiom for all you horse fans out there :)
Another phrase that does not require any more extra context :) Look at the dialog:
Kasia: Look at this car! We need to get it! It's fast, eco-friendly and look at the design!!!!
Partner: Hold your horses Kasia! We need to think this through!
Origins are unknown but quite logical: control the horses (for example in your carriage) that are too enthusiastic and to be calmed down :)
