Back in the day we had these things, called Jukeboxes, that were all the rage. They were music record-players that cost a dime (a Silver Dime) to hear one's favorite popular song, of the era. These Jukeboxes were in bars, pool/billiard halls, etc... In the bars, if no music was playing, the waitress would "match" a patron to see who would pay. You know flip a coin, loser pays. A friendly wager, for everyone's entertainment. The waitress would have a supply of coins that the management would reimburse, for their loss:
The coins were usually marked with finger nail polish for easy ID when machines coin box, was emptied. Silver dimes like these were common, in circulation, but not many people knew of their secret. No one really cared because everyone listened to the music, unless they played the obnoxious, over-played song, again.
There is no telling when this relic was painted. The coin's details underneath, were actually preserved by the nail polish. These treasures turn up in the junk-boxes, at the Local Coin Shop, occasionally, but usually with just a dab of polish. I figured whoever painted it, made today's $2.50 Silver investment, worth it. Even more rare are Silver Quarters used for the twenty-five-cents pool tables. But that is another story. Thanks for looking and keep on stacking.
